From the office desk to the first part
Groovy Gizmo is an Answerphone assignment rather than an ordinary Happy Harbour job. The phone request is about recovering parts delivered to the wrong places. If you are staring at a gizmo on the office table with a 0/9 counter, the next step is the phone-and-door loop, not shooting every object on the desk.
Answerphone work opens as you progress beyond the early locations. In the release-day route it appears after Happy Harbour. Finish the current location work and check the office phone when you return; a location permit and a phone request are separate things.
- 01Shoot the ringing answerphone and listen to the whole message.
- 02Read the pictured object on the job note, including the parcel shape and tape.
- 03Shoot the office door to enter the scene selected for the request.
- 04Find and shoot the matching object, then check that the part counter advances.
- 05Return to the office and continue the next requested part until the nine-part assignment is complete.
What a Gizmo part looks like
Look for a small rectangular delivery box with tape across the top. Ordinary cargo boxes are common scenery, especially at the harbour, so the presence of cardboard alone is not enough. Compare the shape, coloured tape and the view shown in the note before firing.
The note labels the item as a numbered Gizmo part. That number tells you which request is active; it does not mean that part four always sits on the same pier. The picture can also show the box from an angle that makes its orientation useful. Zoom enough to compare the top and side, rather than shooting the first square crate you notice.
Other Answerphone jobs ask for different objects. A pan with an object on it belongs to a different request type, and the miscellaneous-object hunt is not a second name for the Gizmo parcel search. Always use the current note.
Landmarks worth checking in each scene
The search can send you to different maps. The following are useful known placements from the player guide, grouped by landmark. They are starting points for a sweep, not a fixed numbered list for all nine parts. A restart can change the placement, so match the current picture and counter after every visit.
| Scene | First place to inspect | What to compare |
|---|---|---|
| Happy Harbour | The first jetty on the left, around the baskets and ropes | The small taped parcel, not the moored boat or a large cargo crate |
| Funky Farm | The blue pickup beside the red barn, including its roof and load area | The box can blend with the truck and nearby farm clutter |
| Vibrant Village | The first house on the right, beside the crops, bins and front garden | Look low around the garden edge rather than only at the house roof |
| Central City | The bench in the park along the far-right edge of the map | Check the seat and nearby ground; requests of other types can use the same area |
| Aces Airport | The hot-air-balloon area on the right of the scene | Inspect the basket and ground around the balloon, away from the large terminal buildings |
When the last part will not appear
Start with the active note. If it asks for a taped box, keep scanning for a taped box even when you can see other unusual props. An emergency, a banana objective and a Gizmo request can all put objects into the same busy scene without sharing completion conditions.
Pull the zoom back to recover your bearings, choose one edge of the map and sweep through the foreground, middle and rear. Recheck the landmark area from another zoom level before moving on. A box partly hidden by a basket or garden object is easier to overlook when you stay fully zoomed in.
The Spanish player guide describes restarting the level to obtain a familiar placement. Treat that as an optional way to reroll the search, not as a prerequisite or proof that your current object is missing. First make a complete sweep and confirm that the right request is active.
- Still at 0/9: answer the office phone, then enter through the door.
- Found an ordinary box: compare its tape and proportions with the note.
- Returned to a familiar map: do not assume the previous part is still in the same spot.
- Wrong object pictured: finish the current Answerphone request rather than following a different job’s item list.
- Counter advanced: move on to the next request instead of searching for nine boxes in that one scene.
Completion, later requests and the office floor fix
Finish all nine Gizmo parts to complete this assignment, then check the answerphone again for later work. The release-day recording proceeds from Groovy Gizmo to Doodad; the phone system contains more than one request, so completing this model is not the end of every special job.
PC Patch #2, released October 15, fixed an Answerphone issue where collected items could occasionally fall onto the office floor. If your older session behaved that way, update the game before repeating the same hunt. The normal task remains recovering the pictured object and advancing the request.
For the harbour’s named jobs, use the Happy Harbour walkthrough. For banana peels, fireworks and display rewards, use the collectibles checklist; those are separate searches with their own counters.
